The Sweetness the Guru Gives

amrit pee-aa satgur dee-aa.
I drink in the Ambrosial Nectar, given by the True Guru.
avar na jaanaa doo-aa tee-aa.
I do not know any other second or third.
ayko ayk so apar parampar parakh khajaanai paa-idaa. ||12||
He is the One, Unique, Infinite and Endless Lord; He evaluates all beings and places some in His treasury. ||12||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The Guru gave me a sip of something sweeter than anything, like nectar, and it filled me.

After that I could not find a second or a third to chase; the One was enough.

That One is endless and without limit, and gathers up every good heart like treasure.

One taste of the Guru's nectar, and nothing else can pull you away.
The deeper layer

'Amrit' is the ambrosial nectar of the Name, given by the True Guru. Once tasted, the seeker no longer chases 'a second or a third'; the Infinite One keeps every worthy heart 'in the treasury'.

A Question to Sit With

What is something good that satisfies you more than anything you could buy?
