ਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਹੂਣੀ ਭਵੈ ਸਬਾਈ ॥
gi-aan vihoonee bhavai sabaa-ee.
Without spiritual wisdom, they all just wander around.
ਸਾਚਾ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
saachaa rav rahi-aa liv laa-ee.
The True Lord is pervading and permeating everywhere, lovingly engaged.
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਸਬਦੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਚੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੮॥
nirbha-o sabad guroo sach jaataa jotee jot milaa-idaa. ||8||
The Fearless Lord is known through the Shabad, the Word of the True Guru; one's light merges into the Light. ||8||

Without deep understanding, people just wander in circles.
But the One is everywhere, holding everything with love.
When you know the fearless One through the Guru's word, the little light inside you melts into the great Light, like a candle flame joining the sun.
Your small light was always meant to join the great Light.
'Jotee jot milaaidaa': one's light merges into the Light. The fearless One (nirbhau) is known through the Shabad, and the small inner flame is not lost but joined to its source.
