baho saadahu dookh paraapat hovai.
For his excessive indulgences, he receives only pain;
bhogahu rog so ant vigovai.
from his enjoyments, he contracts diseases, and in the end, he wastes away.
harkhahu sog na mit-ee kabhoo vin bhaanay bharmaa-idaa. ||7||
His pleasure can never erase his pain; without accepting the Lord's Will, he wanders lost and confused. ||7||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
When we chase after more and more just to feel good, it often leaves us feeling worse.
The fun we grab at can tire us out and leave us hollow in the end.
No amount of quick pleasure can heal that emptiness; only settling into the One's way brings rest.
Grabbing for more never fills the place only the One can fill.
Too much indulgence wears the body down, and endless craving never satisfies. The remedy is 'bhaanaa', accepting and aligning with the One's will.
A Question to Sit With
