Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 95
Verse 10 of 16

The Servant of the Servants

ham daasan kay daas pi-aaray.
I am the slave of Your slaves, O my Beloved.
saaDhik saach bhalay veechaaray.
The seekers of Truth and goodness contemplate You.
mannay naa-o so-ee jin jaasee aapay saach darirhaa-idaa. ||10||
Whoever believes in the Name, wins; He Himself implants Truth within. ||10||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I would happily serve those who serve the One; that is where I want to be.

People who look for what is true and good keep the One in their thoughts.

Whoever holds the Name close finds their way, because the One plants the truth firmly inside them.

The humblest place, helping those who love the One, is the richest place to stand.
The deeper layer

'Ham daasan kay daas': I am the servant of Your servants, a picture of deep humility. 'Mannay naa-o' is holding and aligning with the Name (living from it), not merely believing in it.

A Question to Sit With

Who is someone whose quiet goodness you would be glad to help?
