Those blessed by His Grace become Gurmukh; they attain the fourth state, and are liberated. ||11||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The One's power flows through the three threads that make up the changing world.
When we forget and get tangled in 'me and mine' (haumai, the feeling of being separate), we feel the ache of coming and going.
But those touched by grace turn toward the Guru and rise to a fourth, quiet state above the three, where they are free.
Above the world's changing threads is a quiet fourth state where you are free.
The three gunas (raj, tam, sat) are the threads of the changing world. 'Haumai' is the sense of being a separate self. Above the three lies 'chautha pad', the fourth state of freedom.
A Question to Sit With
When have you felt caught up in 'me and mine', and what helped you let it go?
