You shall go to your true home with honor. ||1 Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Dear one, keep remembering the Naam of the One.

Then you will go to your true home with honor.

Carry the Name now, and one day you arrive home welcomed.
The deeper layer

Remember the Naam of the One, and you go home with honor.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line. It is the center of the whole shabad, the line everything else turns on.

Paraanee ayko naam Dhi-aavahu means, "Dear one, keep the One Naam in your mind." Apnee pat saytee ghar jaavhu means, "You will go home with honor." Home, ghar, is where the soul belongs. Pat means honor, or dignity.

It is like walking into your house after a long trip with nothing to hide. You can look everyone in the eye, and they are glad to see you.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like to come home to a place where you are fully welcome?
