Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
O mind, stay absorbed in the Mind, settled in your own quiet center.
The mind of one turned toward the Guru is soaked with joy in the One's Naam, like dry ground in the rain, lovingly tuned to the One.
Rest your mind in its own quiet center, soaked in the Naam.
This line is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Man ray man si-o raha-o samaa-ee: O mind, stay settled in the Mind itself. It means coming home to your own quiet center instead of running everywhere.
Then gurmukh raam naam man bheejai: for the one turned toward the Guru, the mind is soaked in the Naam. Bheejai means soaked, the way dry ground drinks the first rain. Liv laa-ee means the heart is lovingly tuned to the One. Think of a guitar string tuned just right, so it rings true.
Where is the quietest place inside you, and how do you get there?
