In plain words

Turning toward the Guru, I have found the Naam of the One, beyond all knowing, with an easy, natural calm.

The treasure of the Naam lives deep in my heart, and my tongue sings the One's praises.

I am always happy, day and night, my attention resting lovingly on the one Word, the Shabad.

I found the treasure of the Naam with natural ease. This is the greatness of the True Guru.

The treasure you are seeking has been inside you all along.
The deeper layer

The treasure we are looking for is already inside us.

Naam niDhaan vasi-aa ghat antar: the niDhaan, the treasure, of the Naam lives deep in the heart. It is like searching the whole house for your glasses while they sit on your head.

Gurmukh sahj subhaa-ee: turning to the Guru, it is found with sahj, a natural, easy calm. No straining, no big effort.

Once it is found, rasnaa har gun gaa-ee: the tongue sings the One's praises. And sadaa anand rahai din raatee: there is anand, lasting joy, day and night.

Ih satgur kee vadi-aa-ee: this is the greatness of the True Guru. The Guru does not put the treasure there. It shows us where it was all along.

A Question to Sit With

What good thing might already be inside you, waiting to be noticed?
