In plain words

When my Beloved came to live in my house, I began to sing songs of joy.

My friends and companions are happy. The One has led me to meet the perfect Guru.

Joy like this doesn't stay private; it spills over to everyone near you.
The deeper layer

When the Beloved comes to live in your home, songs of joy break out, and your friends are glad too.

Jab pari-a aa-ay basay garihi aasan means when my Beloved came to live in my home. Tab ham mangal gaa-i-aa: then I sang songs of joy. Mangal means happy songs, the kind sung at a wedding.

Meet saajan mayray bha-ay suhaylay: my friends and companions are happy too. One heart's joy gladdens the whole circle, like one friend's laugh setting off the whole table. Parabh pooraa guroo milaa-i-aa: the One brought me to meet the complete Guru. Grace arranged the meeting. The seeker did not earn it.

A Question to Sit With

When you're very happy, who feels it with you?
