Slave Nanak's sorrow and suffering has ended. He shall never again be squeezed into the mold of reincarnation. ||2||10||14||

In plain words

I have taken hold of the shelter of the One who never changes, never moves and never ends. The One picked out my wrongs and threw them away.

Nanak says: I, the One's servant, am free of sorrow and suffering, and I will never again be pressed into the mold of being born again.

Hold onto what never changes, and you can stop repeating the same old grooves.
The deeper layer

Hold on to the One who never changes, and old wrongs are thrown out for good.

Saran gahee achut abhinaasee means I have taken shelter with the One who never changes and never ends. Achut means unshakeable. Abhinaasee means it can never be destroyed. Everything else washes away, but this shelter stays. It is like holding the railing on a boat in rough water.

Kilbikh kaadhay means the One lifted my wrongs out and threw them away. Grace wipes the slate clean, gently. Kal kalays mitay means sorrow and trouble are gone. Bahur na jonee maat: I will not be pushed into the mold of birth again. Put simply, I am no longer stuck going round in the same old grooves.

A Question to Sit With

What's a pattern you'd love to step out of for good?
