The Lotus Opens To The Light

ਸਰਵਰਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਆਕਾਸੀ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਈ ॥

The lotus in the pool blossoms forth intuitively and naturally, with the rays of the sun in the sky.

Such is the love for my Beloved which imbues me; my light has merged into the Light. ||2||

In plain words

In the pond, the lotus opens by itself, easily and naturally, when the sun's rays shine from the sky.

Such is the love for my Beloved that has filled me: my light has merged into the Light.

Love opens the heart the way sunlight opens a flower — naturally, without force.
The deeper layer

Love for the One opens the heart the way sunlight opens a flower.

Sarvar kamal kiran aakaasee — a lotus in the pond, and the sun's rays in the sky. Bigsai sahj subhaa-ee — it opens with sahj, easy, natural grace. No one pulls the petals apart. The flower just turns to the warmth and unfolds.

Jotee jot milaa-ee — my light has joined the Light. It is like a raindrop falling into the ocean. One small awareness settles back into the One. This joining is not won by force. It is simply allowed, the way a flower allows the sun.

A Question to Sit With

When have you felt yourself relax and open up without even trying?
