Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Through the True Guru's Word, I come to know the path. Leaning on the Guru, I am given the strength of the True One.

Keep the Naam close, and take in the beautiful words of the Bani. If it pleases You, You lead me to find Your door.

You keep the Name close, and the flow of existence walks you to the door.
The deeper layer

The Guru's Word shows you the way, and the Guru's support gives you strength to walk it.

Paadhar means a clear, level path. Takee-ai is a pillow or a support, something you lean on. Taan is strength. Roorhee baan is the beautiful Bani, the Guru's songs. Thai(n) bhaavai dar lahas piraan — if it pleases You, I find Your door. You keep the Naam close, and the arriving rests in the flow of existence, the Hukam. Your effort is met by being led.

A Question to Sit With

When has the right way forward slowly become clear as you kept going?
