Waaho! The Word Of Wonder

vaahu vaahu banee sat hai gurmukh boojhai ko-ay.
Waaho! Waaho! Blessed and Great is the True Word of His Bani. Only a few, as Gurmukh, understand.
Waaho! Waaho! Praise God as Great! No one else is as Great as He.
aapay bakhsay mayl la-ay karam paraapat ho-ay. ||3||
When God's Grace is received, He Himself forgives the mortal, and unites him with Himself. ||3||

In plain words

Waaho! Waaho! Wow, how wonderful! The true Word, the Bani, is wonderful. Only a few, turned toward the Guru, understand it.

Waaho! Waaho! Praise the One and say how great the One is! No one else is as great.

When grace comes, the One Itself forgives me and draws me close.

Wonder is the sound a heart makes when it finally sees how vast the One is.
The deeper layer

Waaho! is the happy "wow!" the heart makes when it sees how great the One is.

Vaahu vaahu means "wow, wow!" It is part of the word Waheguru, a Sikh name for the One. It is the sound you make seeing a huge waterfall or the night sky full of stars. The verse says the true Word is that wonderful. But only a few, the gurmukh who turn toward the Guru, understand it.

So we praise the One, because no one else is as great. Then grace does the rest. The One forgives us and pulls us close. We don't earn it. It is a gift. Wonder is the doorway in.

A Question to Sit With

What has made you say "wow" from the very bottom of your heart?
