In plain words

The One unites me with the One.

The One, the Sovereign King, takes away fear.

My wondrous Master knows my heart from inside. My Beloved, the treasure of all good things, has met me.

Great joy and peace rise up as I keep cherishing the good qualities of the Lord of the Universe.

Meeting the One, I am made beautiful. Seeing the One, I am spellbound. I have received what was written for me from the start.

Nanak prays: I seek the shelter of those who remember the One, Har, Har.

Meeting the One is a coming home.
The deeper layer

The One brings you back to the One, and fear falls away.

Aapas ka-o aap milaa-i-aa: the One unites us with the One. It is a reunion, like a drop going back into the sea. Bhram bhanjan is the One who breaks doubt and fear. Meeting the Beloved, great joy and peace rise up.

Purab likhi-aa means what was written long ago: the meeting was meant to be. Nanak's closing prayer is to stay near those who remember the One. This chhant closes Guru Arjan's set just before the Vaar.

A Question to Sit With

What fear gets quieter when you feel connected to something larger?
