Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Please do not forget me. Please do not forget me.

Please do not forget me, O my dear Lord.

When people turn away, the One still holds you close.
The deeper layer

You can ask the One, again and again, to keep you in mind.

This is the rahaa-o, the pause line, the center of the shabad. Mo ka-o toon na bisaar: do not forget me. Namdev says it three times, like a child holding tight to a parent's hand. Raamee-aa is a tender name for the One. Everything that follows hangs on this one plea: being shut out, called names, driven away. Malaar is the raag of longing for rain, and here the longing holds on with trust.

A Question to Sit With

Who is someone you know will never forget you, no matter what?
