Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
"Be kind to me," the heart prays, "and keep me safe — I've come to You for shelter."
Whoever comes for that shelter is looked after and kept.
This one says: whoever comes looking for shelter is looked after.
The shabad closes with a request for saran, which means shelter or a safe place. "Shower me with Your Mercy... save me, I seek Your Sanctuary... preserve my honor."
It does not end with winning a prize or getting something done. It ends with trust, like a child running inside when a storm starts. The door is open, and someone is there. The steady promise of this raag is that anyone who comes this way is kept safe.
Where do you go for 'shelter' when you need to feel safe?
