In plain words

There is only One. And the One is found by the True Guru's grace — a gift that is always here, waiting for an open heart.

Is there a friend or companion who will keep sharing what's good and true with me?

Someone who'll help ease my troubles and my unkind habits? I'd give them my whole heart.

It's a good thing to long for a friend who shares what's true and helps you grow kinder.
The deeper layer

This is a Partaal (the lively, rhythm-shifting form). The rahao is a warm search for a companion on the path: "is there any friend who will constantly share the Lord's Name with me? Will he rid me of my pains and evil tendencies? I would surrender everything." The heart longs not just for the good but for a friend to walk toward it with. For a child: it's a good thing to long for a friend who shares what's true and helps you grow kinder.

A Question to Sit With

Who is a friend who helps you become kinder and better?
