The One placed this longing in me — and I feel most alive when I sense it near.
My heart is happily 'drunk' on that love, and meeting it, I find a deep, sweet joy.
The shabad closes on joyful longing: "my Lord has placed this yearning within me; I live by seeing and meeting Him." Even the longing is a gift placed in us. And the gladness is described as a sweet intoxication — "addicted to the intoxication of the Lord... he finds sublime bliss." A heart happily drunk on love. The colophon (||4||2||) closes the shabad. For a child: the longing for good was placed in you as a gift — and meeting it brings a deep, sweet joy.
