Keep the beautiful Name in your heart, O my mind — it is your only true Friend.
With a little grace and wisdom, I remember it, and gladly learn from what is wise.
This one says: the good is your one true Friend, so keep it close.
These lines are the rahao, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Mayray man jap har har naam sakhay means "O my mind, remember the Name, your Friend." The One is called a friend here. It is the one friend who never lets you down.
The response is glad and humble: "I wash the Feet of the True Guru." That means happily learning from what is wise. Think of a best friend who is always on your side, and a good teacher you are glad to listen to. Keep both close.
