Every Creature Is Led Within One Kind Flow

All the beings which the Lord of the Universe created - He puts the rings through their noses, and leads them all along.

O Nanak, as God drives us on, so do we follow; it is all the Will of the Beloved Lord. ||8||2||

In plain words

Every creature is gently led along within a larger flow.

As the good moves us, so we move — it's all part of one kind will.

Every creature is gently led along within one larger, kind flow.
The deeper layer

This one says: every living thing is led along inside one big, kind plan.

The verse says the Creator made all beings and "leads them all along." The old picture is of animals led by a ring in the nose. Then: naanak parabh khinchai tiv chalee-ai — "Nanak, as God pulls us, so we go."

This is the idea of Hukam, which means the One's will, the order that everything moves within. "It is all the Will of the Beloved." Think of leaves floating down a river. Each one moves its own little way, but the river carries them all. We are part of that bigger, gentle flow.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like to trust you're part of a bigger, kind flow?
