In plain words

The good has washed my heart clean, like a bath in cool, sweet water.

Real wisdom is the finest cleansing there is — it rinses away all the old grime.

Real wisdom washes your heart clean, like a bath in cool, sweet water.
The deeper layer

This one says: real wisdom washes your heart clean, like a cool bath.

These lines are the rahao, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Raam har amrit sar naavaaray — "the Lord has bathed me in the pool of sweet nectar." Amrit is the sweet water of life.

"The wisdom of the Guru is the finest bath." This bath is not for the body. It is for the heart. Think of a hot, sticky day, and then jumping into a cool pool. Everything feels fresh. Wisdom does that on the inside. It rinses away the old grime.

A Question to Sit With

What helps your heart feel freshly bathed and clean inside?
