ਜਿਵ ਆਇਆ ਤਿਵ ਜਾਇਸੀ ਕੀਆ ਲਿਖਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
jiv aa-i-aa tiv jaa-isee kee-aa likh lai jaa-ay.
As they come, they go. Their actions are recorded, and go along with them.
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮੂਲੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
manmukh mool gavaa-i-aa dargeh milai sajaa-ay. ||3||
The self-willed manmukh loses his capital, and is punished in the Court of the Lord. ||3||

As we come, so we go. What we have done is written down and goes along with us.
Whoever follows only their own wants loses even the riches they started with, and must answer for it at the One's Court.
What you do becomes part of who you are, and goes with you.
Your deeds go with you, so how you act today shapes who you become.
Jiv aa-i-aa tiv jaa-isee, kee-aa likh lai jaa-ay: as we come, so we go, and our deeds are recorded and carried with us, an image of karma written into who we become. Manmukh mool gavaa-i-aa, dargeh milai sajaa-ay, the self-willed loses the capital and is called to account in the Court.
