Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The seven seas are brimming with pure, clean water, and the upside-down boat floats across.
The mind that kept running outside is held still. The one who turns toward the Guru melts into easy calm in the One.
A mind turned around floats where other minds sink.
Saa-ir sapat bharay jal nirmal: the seven seas are full of clean water. Ultee naav taraavai: the upside-down boat floats across. That sounds impossible, and that is the point. The upside-down boat is a mind turned around from its usual way.
Most of the time the mind runs outward, chasing things, like eyes glued to a phone screen. Baahar jaatou thaak rahaavai: the mind that runs outside is gently held back. Gurmukh sahj samaavai: the one who turns toward the Guru sinks into sahaj, natural ease. Turning the mind around is what lets it float.
When you stop chasing something and turn inward instead, what happens?
