So center yourself on the treasures of spiritual wisdom and meditation; remain lovingly attuned to the One True Lord, and the Word of His Shabad.
ਨਿਰਾਲੰਬੁ ਨਿਰਹਾਰੁ ਨਿਹਕੇਵਲੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
niraalamb nirhaar nihkayval nirbha-o taarhee laavai. ||3||
Remain absorbed in the Primal State of the Fearless, Immaculate, Independent, Self-sufficient Lord. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Make wisdom and meditation your true wealth, and stay lovingly tuned to the one Word.

Rest deep in the One, who leans on nothing, needs nothing, is pure and whole, and fears nothing.

Rest in the One who needs nothing and fears nothing, and you borrow its steadiness.
The deeper layer

Settle into the One who is fearless, and some of that calm comes to you.

Cheenai gi-aan Dhi-aan Dhan saachou: know the true wealth, which is wisdom and meditation. Ayk sabad liv laavai: stay tuned to the one Word.

Then the verse describes the One. Niraalamb means leaning on nothing. Nirhaar means needing nothing. Nihkayval means pure and whole. Nirbha-o means without fear. That last word also comes in the Mool Mantar, the opening words of the Guru Granth Sahib. Taarhee laavai: rest there, absorbed. It is like leaning on a strong wall on a windy day. The wall does not move, and you feel steady too.

A Question to Sit With

What would it feel like to be unafraid and content, needing nothing to be okay?
