The Lord, Har, Har, has enshrined Himself within His humble servant. O Nanak, the Lord God and His servant are one and the same. ||4||5||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Your servants are known only through You. Knowing You, they rise high.

The One has placed Himself inside His servant. Nanak says: the One and the One's servant are one and the same.

Love the One long enough and the gap between you disappears.
The deeper layer

The One and the one who loves the One become one and the same.

tumray jan tum hee tay jaanay — Your people are known only through You. parabh jaani-o jan tay mukhfaa — knowing You, they rise high.

har har aap Dhari-o har jan meh — the One has placed Himself inside His servant. jan naanak har parabh ikfaa — Nanak says the servant and the One are one and the same.

This is Ik Onkar, "the One," lived all the way through. The feeling of being apart simply disappears. Think of a wave on the ocean. It may look like its own thing, but it was always ocean.

A Question to Sit With

What does it mean to you that the space between a person and what they love could disappear?
