Verse 4 of 5

The ones who do not come and go

so sukhee-aa sabh tay ootam so-ay.
They are at peace, the most exalted of all,
jaa kai hirdai vasi-aa parabh so-ay.
within whose hearts God dwells.
so-ee nihchal aavai na jaa-ay.
They are stable and unchanging; they do not come and go in reincarnation.
an-din parabh kay har gun gaa-ay. ||3||
Night and day, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord God. ||3||

In plain words

Those in whose hearts the One lives are at peace, the highest of all.

They are steady and unshaken; they do not come and go.

Night and day, they sing the praises of the One.

The most settled people are the ones who carry what they love inside them wherever they go.
The deeper layer

Those who carry the One in their hearts are at peace and stay steady.

"Nihchal" (unmoving) and "aavai na jaa-ay" (does not come and go) traditionally mean freedom from the round of birth and death; in daily life it shows as a deep inner steadiness. "An-din gaa-ay" is the continuous, glad remembering that marks such a life.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you feel steady and at home inside yourself, even when things around you are changing?
