Troubles that do not come near

ਅਨਦ ਸਹਜ ਰਸ ਸੂਖ ਘਨੇਰੇ ॥
anad sahj ras sookh ghanayray.
They are blessed with abundant bliss, happiness, pleasure and peace.
ਦੁਸਮਨੁ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨੇਰੇ ॥
dusman dookh na aavai nayray.
Enemies and pains do not even approach them.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ॥
gur poorai apunay kar raakhay.
The Perfect Guru makes them His Own, and protects them.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਲਾਥੇ ॥੩॥
har naam japat kilbikh sabh laathay. ||3||
Chanting the Lord's Name, they are rid of all their sins. ||3||

In plain words

They are blessed with plenty of joy, ease, sweetness and peace.

Enemies and pains do not even come near them.

The Perfect Guru makes them the Guru's own and protects them.

Chanting the Naam of the One, they are rid of all their wrongdoings.

When you are deeply at peace, a lot of what used to trouble you loses its power to reach you.
The deeper layer

Someone the Guru protects lives in deep, plentiful peace.

anad sahj ras sookh ghanayray — plenty of anad (joy), sahj (natural ease), sweetness, and peace. Sahj is the calm balance of a heart lined up with the One.

dusman dookh na aavai nayray — enemies and pain do not even come near. This does not mean hard things never happen. It means they lose their power to shake someone rooted in the One. Think of a tree with deep roots in a storm. The wind blows, but the tree stays standing.

gur poorai apunay kar raakhay — the Perfect Guru makes them His own and protects them. har naam japat kilbikh sabh laathay — remembering the Naam, all their wrongdoings fall away.

A Question to Sit With

What is something that used to bother you a lot that does not get to you as much anymore? What changed?
