Verse 3 of 9

However You keep me

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਆਗੈ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਤੁਝ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
man tan aagai jee-arhaa tujh paas.
I place my mind and body in offering before You; I dedicate my soul to You.
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖਹੁ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੨॥
ji-o bhaavai ti-o rakhahu ardaas. ||2||
As it pleases You, You save me, Lord; this is my prayer. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I place my mind and body before You, and I give my soul to You.

Keep me safe however You wish, O Lord. This is my prayer.

The deepest prayer is trusting how you're held, whatever comes.
The deeper layer

You can hand your whole self to the One in full trust.

The verse says man tan aagai jee-arhaa tujh paas: mind, body and soul, I place all of it before You. It is a full offering of the self. Then ji-o bhaavai ti-o rakhahu ardaas: keep me however You wish; that is my prayer.

This is trust in Hukam, the One's order, the flow of all that is. It is not giving up. It is like floating in a river instead of fighting the current. You relax, and the water carries you.

A Question to Sit With

What would it feel like to trust that you are held, even when things don't go your way?
