In Every Single Heart

ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਸੋਇ ॥
ghat ghat antar ravi-aa so-ay.
He is contained in each and every heart.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੀਜੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
tis bin beejo naahee ko-ay.
Without Him, there is no one at all.
ਬੈਰ ਬਿਰੋਧ ਛੇਦੇ ਭੈ ਭਰਮਾਂ ॥
bair biroDh chhayday bhai bharmaaN.
Hatred, conflict, fear and doubt have been eliminated.
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਪੁੰਨਿ ਆਤਮੈ ਕੀਨੇ ਧਰਮਾ ॥੩॥
parabh punn aatmai keenay Dharmaa. ||3||
God, the Soul of Pure Goodness, has manifested His Righteousness. ||3||

In plain words

The One lives inside each and every heart.

Without the One, there is no one at all.

Hatred and fighting, fear and doubt have been cut away.

The One, so pure and good, has made goodness shine out.

The same light lives in every heart, so hatred loses its grip.
The deeper layer

The One lives in every heart, and seeing that changes how we treat each other.

Ghat ghat antar ravi-aa so-ay means that One lives inside each and every heart. Tis bin beejo naahee ko-ay means without the One, there is no one at all.

Once you see this, bair biroDh chhayday bhai bharmaaN. Hatred and fighting are cut away, and so are fear and doubt.

Think of a class where everyone learns they are cousins. It gets hard to stay mad at someone who is family. In the same way, if the same light shines in everyone, hatred has nowhere to stand. This is where oneness becomes something you can live every day.

A Question to Sit With

How would you treat people if you saw the same light in each of them?
