The one soaked in the True Naam to the bottom of the heart is called the Guru, sweet as sandalwood.
That fragrance perfumes all the plants around. Keep your loving focus on those feet.
A Guru soaked in the Naam is like sandalwood, sweetening everything nearby.
Rataa sach naam tal hee-al means "soaked in the True Naam to the bottom of the heart." A Guru like that is called parmal, the scent of sandalwood. Sandalwood is a tree whose wood smells sweet.
Jaa kee vaas banaaspat sa-urai means "that fragrance perfumes all the plants around it." So taas charan liv rahee-ai: "keep your loving focus on those feet." Sitting at someone's feet is a picture of humility and devotion.
Think of walking into a kitchen where fresh bread is baking. Soon your clothes smell of it too. This is the gift of the Sangat, people gathered together to remember the One. Being near what is full of truth quietly sweetens you as well.
Who in your life makes everyone around them a little kinder just by being there?
