There is nothing wrong with the pot of clay - there is nothing wrong with the Potter. ||2||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The clay is one, and the Maker has shaped it in many ways.
Nothing is wrong with the clay pots, and nothing is wrong with the Potter.
We are shaped in a thousand different ways from the very same clay.
One clay makes many pots, and nothing is wrong with any of them.
The potter and clay make the teaching touchable. One clay, many shapes — jars, bowls, cups — yet nothing is wrong with any pot and nothing is wrong with the potter. The shapes differ, and still there is no ranking, because the material is one. A child can hold both truths at once: we are wonderfully varied and we are utterly the same underneath.
A Question to Sit With
What is something that makes you different from your friends, and something that makes you exactly the same?
