In plain words

That servant of the One is dear to the One.

Day and night they worship with love. They stop worrying about looking cool or dignified, and sing out the wonders of the One.

Joy sings out and stops worrying about how it looks.
The deeper layer

The One loves the person who stays close day and night, and sings without worrying how it looks.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. It describes the har jan, a person who belongs to the One. They stay close ahinis, all day and all night.

Laaj chhod har kay gun gaavai — setting aside embarrassment, they sing the goodness of the One. Laaj here is self-consciousness, the worry about what others will think. The singing itself is praised as free and full of joy.

Think of a little child singing loudly in the kitchen. They are not putting on a show. They are just happy. That is the kind of singing this verse celebrates.

A Question to Sit With

What do you love doing so much that you forget to feel embarrassed?
