ਸਗਲ ਦੂਖ ਕਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਭੰਨਾ ਸੰਤ ਧੂਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਈ ॥੨॥
sagal dookh kaa dayraa bhannaa sant Dhoor mukh laa-ee. ||2||
The source of all pain within is destroyed; I apply the dust of the feet of the Saints to my forehead. ||2||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The camp where all my pain had settled inside me is torn down.
I touch the dust from the feet of the saints to my forehead.
Pain's camp is torn down, and the heart bows low before the saints.
Sagal dookh kaa dayraa, the whole encampment of pain, its settled dwelling, is bhannaa (broken apart). Sant dhoor mukh laa-ee, placing the dust of the saints' feet on the forehead, is Gurbani's image of complete humility before the wise. Bowing low like this is the posture that lets the teaching in.
