Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
O my mind, keep the One in mind, Har, Har — do not forget the One even for a moment.
Hold the One, Raam, Raam, close in your heart and on your lips.
Hold close in your heart the One who fills everything, the highest and the pure.
The One sends fear far away, takes away wrongs, and breaks the unbearable pain of this frightening world-ocean.
Think on the goodness of the One, Lord of the world, who cares for all.
Nanak prays: join the Sangat, and remember the One day and night.
Khin na visaaree-ai — do not forget even for an instant; the practice of continuous remembrance (simran). The pile of divine names — Jagdees, Gopaal, Maadho, Govind — turns the mind again and again toward the same One from many angles, the way you might call someone you love by several names.
Mil sang saadhoo is joining the Sangat, people gathered together to remember the One. There, remembering day and night comes more easily.
What is a word or thought you return to when you need to feel steady?
