Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I have no goodness of my own and no one to protect me; I have come to Your shelter.
Again and again I give myself to the Guru, who planted the Naam firmly in me.
The Guru gave me the Naam; all became well, and every wish was fulfilled.
The fire of wanting is put out and peace has come; after so long apart, I have met the One again.
Joy, delight, true and natural ease — I sang the great glad song of the One's goodness.
Nanak prays: I received the Naam of the One from the perfect Guru.
Mohi nirgun anaath — "I am without virtue, without a protector." It is the honest voice of someone arriving with empty hands, with no put-down of oneself in it. Jalnay bujhaa-ee — the fire of craving is put out, bringing saant (peace). Chiree vichhunni-aa — meeting after a long separation, the reunion that is the emotional core of the Chhant. Sahj is natural ease, the settled state that follows.
When has letting go of a craving brought you unexpected peace?
