The One is our Master and protector — grab hold of the hem of the One's robe.
In the Sangat, meditate on the kind, shining One, and give up the cleverness of your own mind.
Lean on the One alone, give your whole self, and put your hope only in the One who holds up the world.
Those colored with the Naam in the Sangat all cross the world-ocean.
The troubles of birth and death are gone, and no stain sticks to them again.
Nanak says: I give myself to the perfect first Being, whose marriage with the soul lasts forever.
Anchal ... laag — grabbing the anchal, the hem of the robe, the way a small child clings to a parent: trust, not fear. Man kee mat tiaag — letting go of the ego's cleverness (haumai), which insists on going it alone. Sohaag is the marriage bond of the soul and the One, here "eternal": a union that cannot be broken, the heart of the Chhant's wedding imagery.
Saadh sang is the Sangat, people gathered together to remember the One. Colored by the Naam together, they cross the world-ocean.
When has trusting someone been wiser than trying to figure it all out alone?
