In plain words

There is only One. And the One is found by the True Guru's grace — a gift that is always here, waiting for an open heart.

Sing the sweet, ringing songs, my friends, and remember the One alone.

Serve your True Guru, my friends, and you will receive the fruit your heart longs for.

Bow to the highest One, and long for the dust of the feet of the holy.

Nanak says: let go of your puffed-up self and remember the One, Har, Har; the One fills everything.

Every season of the year, and of a life, can be a season of remembering.
The deeper layer

Ruti means "The Seasons": a cycle that walks through the year, matching each season to the soul's longing for the One and meeting with the One. The frame is the soul-bride awaiting her Beloved. Aap nivaar — casting off the puffed-up self (haumai) — is the doorway. Bharpoor — the One filling all, in every season alike.

A Question to Sit With

Which time of year makes you feel most alive, and why?
