Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The snowy winter season, the months of Maagh and Phagun, is pleasing to the mind.
Sing songs of joy, my friends and companions — my Husband, the One, has come home.
My Beloved has come home; I remember the One in my mind, and the bed of my heart is beautifully made.
The woods, the meadows and all three worlds have turned green; seeing the One, I am enchanted.
I have met my Master and my wishes are fulfilled; my mind repeats the One's pure mantra.
Nanak prays: I celebrate always; I have met my Husband, the Lord of all excellence.
Himkar rut — the deep, snowy winter, yet pleasing to the mind, because the Beloved has come home (garihi aa-ay). The whole world greens even in snow, mirroring the inner spring of reunion. Sayj — the bed or resting place of the heart, made ready for the Beloved: a tender, inward wedding image. Nirmal mant — the pure word (the Name) sung in celebration.
When has joy inside you made even a dull day feel bright?
