The Brave Ones Cross Over

jin jaani-aa say-ee taray say sooray say beer.
Those who know Him, cross over; they are the brave heroes, the heroic warriors.
naanak tin balihaarnai har jap utray teer. ||2||
Nanak is a sacrifice to those who meditate on the Lord, and cross over to the other shore. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Those who know the One cross over; they are the brave ones, the heroes.

Nanak says: I give myself to those who remember the One and cross to the far shore.

The bravest thing can be quietly holding on to what you know is true.
The deeper layer

Say sooray say beer — "they are the warriors, the heroes": courage redefined as inner realization, crossing the ocean of the world by remembrance (har jap utray teer). Heroism located in the quiet strength of a steadied heart.

A Question to Sit With

What kind of courage do you most admire in someone?
