In plain words

Listen, my dear friend: please show me the True Guru.

I would give my mind to the Guru, and keep the Guru close in my heart every day.

Without the one True Guru, a life in this world is empty and wasted.

Nanak says: they meet the True Guru with whom the One always stays.

It is brave and good to ask for help finding your way.
The deeper layer

A seeker's plea, spoken to a friend: help me find the Guru. Whoever is looking asks the people around them for help. The word dhrig is strong — a life apart from the Guru is called cursed, empty of what matters most. The meeting comes to those with whom the One already abides — grace meeting longing.

A Question to Sit With

Who would you ask to help you find something important that you had lost?
