Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Deep inside me is a longing to meet You. How can I find You, my Lord?
I will search for a friend who can bring me together with my Beloved.
The perfect Guru has brought us together — now wherever I look, there You are.
Nanak says: I, Your servant, serve that Lord; no one else is as great.
Sometimes what you are searching for is already everywhere you look.
The lovely paradox of the seeker: searching everywhere for what is already everywhere. The Guru does not fetch a distant One — the Guru opens the eyes, and the One who was always present is suddenly seen in all directions. This is the immanence that runs through the whole Vaar.
A Question to Sit With
Have you ever looked hard for something that turned out to be right in front of you?
