Nanak says: remember the Naam. This is what the perfect Guru teaches.
Within the One's Will, people meditate, keep hard disciplines and hold themselves in check; within that Will, they are set free.
Within that Will, they wander from life to life; within that Will, they are forgiven.
Within that Will, pain and joy are lived through; within that Will, deeds are done.
Within that Will, clay is shaped into a body; within that Will, the One's Light is placed inside it.
Within that Will, pleasures are enjoyed; within that Will, they are held back.
Within that Will, some are born into heaven and some into hell; within that Will, they fall to the ground.
Within that Will, some are joined to loving worship. Nanak, how rare they are!
Everything moves within bhaana, the One's Will, the flow of life. Pairs follow each other: discipline and release, wandering and forgiveness, pain and joy, heaven and hell. The strongest image is clay shaped into a body with the One's Light placed inside it: the ordinary body carrying a glowing spark. Within all this, to be turned toward loving worship is rare.
Heaven and hell can be heard here as the highs and lows of a life, all held within one flow.
What is something you did not choose that shaped who you are?
