In plain words

When I was stuck in a tight, narrow place, the One opened the way wide, and kept me and my whole family safe, our good name whole.

The One set my affairs right; I keep that Lord in mind always.

The One is my mother and father, hugging me close and caring for me like a tiny baby.

All living beings have become kind to me. Nanak says: the One has looked on me with grace.

When the One looks on you with grace, even a narrow way opens wide.
The deeper layer

The narrow way widened (bheerhahu moklaa-ee), honor preserved, affairs resolved — the felt experience of grace easing a hard passage. Maat pitaa: the One as both mother and father. In the closing line, all beings turn kind under the One's glance of grace (nadar): kindness from the world arrives as part of the same gift.

A Question to Sit With

When has someone's kindness made a hard path feel easier?
