The Perfect Guru has granted me the life of the soul; I meditate in remembrance on the Ambrosial Name of the Lord. ||1||

In plain words

The True Guru is the great Giver, the greatest Being of all. Meeting the Guru, I hold the One in my heart.

The Perfect Guru gave me the very life of my soul.

Now I remember the sweet, deathless Naam of the One.

The greatest gift the Guru gives is the One placed in your own heart.
The deeper layer

The greatest gift is not a thing but a presence — the One placed inside your own heart.

Satgur daataa — the Guru as Giver. Jee-a daan is the gift of soul-life, an inner aliveness handed back to you. Amrit naam is the deathless, ambrosial Name; samaaray means to cherish and remember.
