In plain words

The Naam of the One is a pure light, sweet as nectar.

Drinking it in, a person lives forever and stops grabbing for more.

Body and mind grow cool and calm, and the fire inside is put out.

Such a person becomes joy itself, known all over the world.

The Naam cools the fire inside and leaves you calm and glad.
The deeper layer

The Name cools the fire inside us and leaves joy in its place.

Nirmal jot amrit har naam — the Name of the One is a pure light, sweet as amrit, nectar. Drinking it in, a person becomes nihkaam, free of grabby wanting.

Tan man seetal agan nivaaree — body and mind grow cool, and the fire is put out. The fire here is the anger and craving that burn inside us. Think of how you feel after a big argument, when someone hands you a cold glass of water and a hug. The heat goes out of you.

Such a person becomes anad roop, joy in human shape. People everywhere can see it.

A Question to Sit With

What cools you down when you're heated up or upset?
