A Treasure That Never Runs Out

kot janam kay kaatay faahay.
The nooses of millions of incarnations are cut away.
paa-i-aa laabh sachaa Dhan laahay.
I have obtained the profit of the true wealth.
tot na aavai akhut bhandaar.
This treasure is inexhaustible; it will never run out.
naanak bhagat soheh har du-aar. ||4||23||34||
O Nanak, the devotees look beautiful in the Court of the Lord. ||4||23||34||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The nooses of millions of lifetimes are cut away.

I have earned the profit of the true wealth.

This treasure never runs short — it can never be used up.

Nanak says: those who love the One look beautiful at the One's door.

The truest wealth is the kind that can never be used up.
The deeper layer

Kot janam kay kaatay faahay — the nooses of millions of births are cut away, and the old bindings fall loose. Akhut bhandaar: the storehouse that never empties. Bhagat soheh har du-aar — those who love the One look beautiful at the One's door.

A Question to Sit With

What is something valuable to you that only grows when you share it?
