apnai rang kartaa kayl.
The Creator Lord plays His own plays.
aap bichhorai aapay mayl.
He Himself separates, and He Himself unites.
ik bharmay ik bhagtee laa-ay.
Some wander around, while others are linked to His devotional worship.
apnaa kee-aa aap janaa-ay. ||3||
By His actions, He makes Himself known. ||3||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The Maker plays its own great play.
It parts things and then draws them back together.
Some wander about, and some it joins to loving devotion.
Through what it does, the One makes itself known.
Everything that happens is one great play, and the One is in all of it.
Apnai rang kartaa kayl — the Creator plays for its own delight. Aap bichhorai aapay mayl: it separates and reunites. Apnaa kee-aa aap janaa-ay — the One makes itself known through its own doings. Even the wandering is inside the play; nothing is outside the One.
