Sikhism·Raag Raamkalee·Shabad 60
Verse 3 of 5

His Will Becomes Sweet

jo jo karai so-ee maan layho.
Whatever the Lord has done, accept that as good.
bin maanay ral hoveh khayh.
Without accepting, you shall mingle with dust.
tis kaa bhaanaa laagai meethaa.
His Will seems sweet to me.
gur parsaad virlay man voothaa. ||2||
By Guru's Grace, He comes to dwell in the mind. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Whatever the One does, accept it as good.

Without accepting, you turn to dust.

The One's will tastes sweet to me.

By the Guru's grace, the One comes to live in the mind.

When you stop fighting the flow of life, it slowly begins to taste sweet.
The deeper layer

Jo jo karai so-ee maan layho — accept whatever is done. This is mannai — not passive resignation but inner alignment, living from the truth so that tis kaa bhaa-naa laagai meethaa, the flow of existence tastes sweet. Gur parsaad virlay: this dwelling happens by grace, in the rare heart open to it.

A Question to Sit With

What is something hard that later turned out to taste sweet?
