Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The One is carefree, free of all need, beyond what the senses can grab.
All through the day, my mind, keep it in view.
The moment it enters your awareness, pain dissolves.
And your face grows bright, here and beyond.
Keeping the carefree One in view brightens your whole face.
Vayparvaahu agochar — carefree and beyond the senses. The bayparvaah (worry-free) One is a favorite Guru Arjan image — a serenity you can catch by keeping it in view (aath pahar, all eight watches of the day). Oojal mukhaa: a bright, unclouded face as the visible sign of an unburdened heart.
A Question to Sit With
Who do you know that seems carefree, and what is it like near them?
