The Teaching That Ends Fear

ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
raamkalee mehlaa 5.
Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl:
ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਜਾਪਿ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥
man maahi jaap bhagvant.
In your mind, meditate on the Lord God.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਇਹੁ ਦੀਨੋ ਮੰਤੁ ॥
gur poorai ih deeno mant.
This is the Teaching given by the Perfect Guru.
ਮਿਟੇ ਸਗਲ ਭੈ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ॥
mitay sagal bhai taraas.
All fears and terrors are taken away,
ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਆਸ ॥੧॥
pooran ho-ee aas. ||1||
and your hopes shall be fulfilled. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

In your mind, keep the One close.

This is the teaching the perfect Guru gives.

Every fear and dread lifts away.

And your hopes are fulfilled.

The simple teaching to keep the One close quietly dissolves fear.
The deeper layer

Man maahi jaap bhagvant — remember within the mind. Mitay sagal bhai taraas: all fears and terrors erased. The perfect Guru’s single teaching (mant) is inward remembrance, and its fruit is freedom from fear — a recurring Raamkalee note.

A Question to Sit With

What is a fear that gets smaller when you remember something you trust?
